Marc Chagall’s only opera production opened at the New Met in 1967. The artist had also created the two giant murals that hover over the house’s lobby.
In December 1972, there was a broadcast of the production, a recording of which has recently surfaced. It boasts a cast full of wonderful singers whose performances at The Met I remember vividly.
